The journey behind Jiri Lizler’s work
My journey into photography began with curiosity.
I remember studying the work of leading photographers and wondering how images like that were even possible. What pushed me forward was a constant need to understand why things work — and to test my own limits.
Over time, I found my direction: architectural photography with a strong focus on hospitality.
The beginning was anything but easy. And despite how it may look today, it never truly became easy. For years, my process was built on searching for the right information, testing ideas, failing, and starting again. Progress came slowly — through persistence, repetition, and learning the hard way.
“Success requires consistent work, learning from your own mistakes, building the right connections, and maintaining faith — even during moments of failure.” — Jiri Lizler
There was no shortcut or simple formula. What it required was patience, discipline, and long-term effort. A turning point came when I had the opportunity to prove myself — opening the door to projects for five-star hotels in the Czech Republic and abroad, including brands such as St. Regis, The Ritz-Carlton, Six Senses, and Hyatt.
I’m often asked how to work internationally and build long-term contracts. The answer has remained the same over the years:
long-term success is built on consistency, self-reflection, strong professional relationships, and resilience — especially when things don’t go as planned.
These topics are also explored in our podcast, where we talk openly about the reality behind professional photography.
